Dedicated server locations in five cities, timed from where you are

Our dedicated server locations are New York, Miami, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Bucharest: three rooms in the United States and two in Europe, each renting whole machines on ports nobody meters. The board on this page times your own connection to all five, so you can see which one is closest to you before you look at a single price.

No contract in any city. A machine already in the rack is yours about 30 minutes after the order is approved, and a build to order takes 4 to 24 hours when we hold the parts.

Your round trip to each room: the quickest of three tries after a warm-up. A shorter bar is a closer room.

01Choosing

Which city should you pick?

Pick the one nearest the people who will use the server. Distance decides most of the delay between a visitor and a machine, and nothing we can tune changes that. If your users live in two places, the board above usually settles it, and some customers simply run one server on each side of the Atlantic.

  • US East · Europe reach

    New York

For trading tools, newsrooms, ad platforms and anything whose users sit on the East Coast. It is also the sensible middle when half your audience is in North America and half in Europe. New York builds 17 of our 18 lines, and it is one of the two rooms our looking glass runs tests from.

  • Florida · Latin America

    Miami

For audiences in Florida, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central and South America. Of our five rooms it is the closest to all of them, so it suits streaming, voice and game servers whose users speak Spanish or Portuguese.

The figures come from the order catalogue and the rack shelf as this page loads. "Racked from" is the cheapest machine in that room you can take today as it stands, and those machines can also be rented by the hour.

A dash means nothing is racked in that room right now; every line there can still be built to order. Each city's own page lists the machines on its shelf and the lines it builds, with the parts behind every price.

Reading the numbers

Ping and the board both measure a round trip from your network, so they will differ a little from each other and from day to day. What matters is the gap between rooms: if one city answers in a third of the time of the next, that is the one your users will feel.

To follow the route hop by hop, run tracert on Windows or traceroute on macOS and Linux against the same addresses. The looking glass runs ping, traceroute and route lookups from our side, in New York and in Bucharest.

03The lines

What each city can build for you

These are the 18 server lines we sell and the rooms that build each one. The price on a row is that line's entry build, with its exact parts written under it, per month. A line costs the same number in every city that has it: dollars in the three US rooms, euros in Amsterdam and Bucharest.

A crossed-out city code means that room does not build the line. A cartridge is a small complete server with its own processor, memory, drive and port, sharing a chassis for power and cooling; rack servers add a hardware RAID controller, more memory and a management controller with a browser console.

A configured order is built for you and pays a setup fee once. A machine already in the rack, taken as it stands, has none and can be rented by the hour: each city page shows the ones on its shelf, and the racked servers page lists all of them. For a graphics card, start with the GPU servers.

04In every city

What stays the same wherever you put it

The city changes the distance to your users, the currency and the lines on offer. The rest of the deal is the same in all five rooms.

What you get in each room

  • The whole machine, with root or Administrator access and no other customer on it
  • A port that is not shared with any other customer at the access switch, and nothing metering the traffic on it
  • One IPv4 address and IPv6
  • Monthly billing with no contract; 3, 6 or 12 months paid at once is 5%, 10% or 15% cheaper, software licenses excepted
  • Payment by card, PayPal, bank transfer or cryptocurrency, and ACH in the US
  • Support on chat: our AI answers in seconds and can check your server for you, and a person takes over whenever you ask

What we do not promise

  • No DDoS protection, in any city, as a feature or as an extra
  • No uptime percentage. The service agreement credits you a day of the monthly charge for each cumulative hour the network is down, once an outage passes 15 consecutive minutes, up to a month
  • No brand-new hardware. These are enterprise machines, many a generation or more old on purpose, and priced that way

When a part fails

The agreement also covers hardware. A failed part is replaced in the time your support tier states on the order form: 24 hours on the tier every server includes, down to 2 hours on the fastest paid tier. The support plans page compares them.

05Questions

Questions people ask before choosing a city

01Where are your dedicated servers located?

In five cities. Three are in the United States (New York, Miami and San Francisco) and two are in Europe (Amsterdam and Bucharest). Four are rack space we lease in other operators' buildings, and Bucharest is a room we designed and built. The hardware in all five is ours.

02How do I know which location is fastest for my users?

Measure it from where they are. The board at the top of this page times your own browser's round trip to each room, and every room has a test address you can ping. If your users are somewhere else, send them this page and ask for their numbers.

03Can I have servers in more than one city?

Yes. Each server is its own order, so you can put one in New York and one in Amsterdam, or any mix, and manage them from the same account. The lines on offer differ by city, and the table above shows which.

04Why are Amsterdam and Bucharest priced in euros?

Because a server in either European room is sold and invoiced by our company in Romania, in euros. It carries the same number a US room charges in dollars. Businesses elsewhere in the EU with a valid VAT number pay no VAT on it under the reverse charge; Romanian customers pay Romanian VAT.

05How fast is a server ready in each city?

The same everywhere: about 30 minutes after the order is approved for a machine already in the rack. A build to order takes 4 to 24 hours when we hold the parts, 5 to 10 working days when a part has to be bought in, and 10 to 15 for a scarce one. The payment check comes first, and it is the part that varies.

06Is bandwidth metered in any of the locations?

No. Nothing counts the traffic on your port in any city, and the port is not shared with any other customer at the access switch. Each line includes 1 Gbps or 500 Mbps, and faster ports are an option on the order form.

07Who answers when something goes wrong?

Start a chat from any page. Our AI answers in seconds and can look at your server, wherever it is, and a person takes over whenever you ask for one.
