Podcast hosting

Free podcast hosting or none of our ads, from $9

Put your podcast on Primcast and we store the episodes, publish the feed that Apple Podcasts and Spotify read, and count who listens. The free plan pays for itself with a handful of brief spots from the Primcast ad network. The paid plans have none of them, and they let you run your own sponsors.

No setup fee on any plan, no cap on downloads, and no radio station required.

On every plan: a feed for Spotify, Apple Podcasts and the Podcasting 2.0 apps, a public podcast page, a player for your website, and importing a show from another host. Paying for a year saves $18 on Podcast and $58 on Network.

Apple Podcasts and Spotify

From your first upload to the podcast apps

All of it happens in your Primcast dashboard. Nobody needs a second account somewhere else.

  1. 01

    Set up the show

Its name and description, square artwork from 1400 to 3000 pixels, Apple Podcasts categories, the language and the owner's name and email. Apple and Spotify send their verification to that email, so pick one you check.

  2. 02

    Upload an episode

Add show notes with links, season and episode numbers, and whether it is a full episode, a trailer or a bonus. Free episodes go out now or on a date you choose. On Podcast and Network you also get chapters, a transcript and a scheduled release.

  3. 03

    Submit the feed

The dashboard links straight to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and Audible, YouTube Music, Pocket Casts, iHeartRadio and Podcast Index. Podcast Index hands your show on to apps such as Overcast, Fountain and Podverse.

  4. 04

    Keep publishing

You only submit once. Each new episode turns up in the apps by itself a few minutes after its release.

Switching hosts

Bring the show you already have

Paste the RSS address your podcast has at its current host and we import the show. It works on all three plans, the free one too, so you can try us with a real show instead of an empty one.

And the other way

Nothing keeps you here

If you ever move on, the feed settings let you point it at a new address, which is how podcast apps learn where your show has gone. You can also lock the feed, mark a finished series as complete, or keep it out of Apple Podcasts.

01

Whose ads are in your episodes

Free: short ads from our network

They are what keeps the free plan free. We set the number, identically for all free shows, and there is no switch to remove them: one before the episode, one in every break, or, with no breaks marked, one in a gap in the speech every 15 minutes. Nothing at the end.

The ads are added as each episode is downloaded, never written into your audio file.

Podcast and Network: your sponsors

None of our ads. The slots before, during and after your episodes are yours to sell. Spots are put in at download, so a campaign you start today reaches your whole back catalogue and ends the day the campaign does.

  • Sponsorships, campaigns with an impression goal, and house promos for the slots nobody bought
  • Targeting by podcast and by country, a daily cap per listener, priorities, and spots rotated by weight
  • Each spot levelled to -16 LUFS, so it sits at the volume of your own voice
  • Impressions counted only when the whole spot was sent, and only once a day for the same listener, break and episode
  • On Network, a report per advertiser that you can print and hand over
02

Download stats you can show a sponsor

What counts
Any single app on a single device is one download per episode per day, once it has fetched a minute of audio, or the whole episode if it runs shorter. That is how the IAB podcast measurement guidelines define it.
What doesn't
Bots, and the same app asking again.
Privacy
We keep no listener's IP address.
Broken down by
Episode, day, country, app (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Overcast and more) and device.
How far back
Free looks back 7 or 30 days. Podcast and Network go back as far as 365.

On all three plans

The free plan is not a trial version

One feed for every app

Built with the tags Spotify, Apple Podcasts and the Podcasting 2.0 apps look for, in newest-first or serial order.

A page for listeners

Your artwork, description and episodes on a public page, with subscribe buttons for AntennaPod, Apple Podcasts, Castro, Overcast and Pocket Casts, plus one that copies the feed.

A player you can embed

It skips back 15 seconds and forward 30, and changes speed. Copy one piece of code from the dashboard onto your website.

No bill for being popular

Fair use is the only limit on downloads, so an episode that takes off costs you nothing extra.

Room to keep going

Up to 2,000 episodes in each show, inside your plan's storage.

Our own servers

Your episodes are stored and served by Primcast, from New York.

Radio stations

Broadcasting already? Your radio plan may cover the podcast

Primcast's Premium and Platinum radio plans come with podcasting and podcast ads at no extra charge. Any show in your station's Programs tab can go out as a podcast, with the station breaks cut out, and one click turns a recorded live broadcast into an episode.

Questions

Asked before the first upload

What does podcast hosting cost at Primcast?

Nothing on Free, which hosts one show with 10 GB and carries short ads from our network. Podcast costs $9 monthly ($90 if you pay yearly) and gives you 3 shows with 50 GB. Network costs $29 monthly ($290 yearly) for 20 shows with 250 GB. There is no setup fee on any of them.

What's the catch with the free plan?

The ads. Each free episode gets one short ad from our network before it starts and one at each break; with no breaks marked, one lands in a quiet moment every 15 minutes. They stay on for as long as you are on Free. The feed, the podcast page, the player and the way downloads are counted are the same as on the paid plans; Free leaves out chapters, transcripts, scheduled releases and stats older than 30 days.

Can I have a podcast with no ads at all?

Yes. Podcast and Network carry none of our ads, and if you never set up a campaign of your own, your episodes play with no ads.

Can I sell my own sponsors?

On Podcast and Network. You set up a campaign with the sponsor's spot and choose where it plays: at the start, during the breaks or at the end. The spots are added as episodes are downloaded, so older episodes carry the campaign too. With Network, every advertiser also gets a report you can print and hand over.

How do I get on Spotify and Apple Podcasts?

Submit your feed to each one once, from the links in your dashboard. Both confirm you own the show with a message to the owner email in your feed. After that every new episode shows up in their apps by itself.

I host my podcast somewhere else. Can I move it?

Yes, on any plan: send us the feed (RSS) address from where the show lives now, and the show comes across.

Are there limits on episodes or downloads?

Each show holds up to 2,000 episodes, inside your plan's storage. Downloads are not capped, under fair use.

How do you count a download?

The IAB way. Each app on each device is counted once per episode per day, as soon as it has pulled a minute of audio, or the full episode when it is shorter than that. Bots and repeat requests don't count, and we keep no listener's IP address.

Is this only for radio stations?

No. Our podcast plans are for anyone with a podcast, and they come without a radio stream or encoder. A station already on our Premium or Platinum radio plan has podcasting built in.

Upload an episode today, decide about the ads later

Start on Free for $0. When you would rather your listeners heard no ads of ours, Podcast is $9 a month.
